The book is in slightly aged yellow boards bumped to the spine ends/corners, internally tape residue where the previous owner has affixed the dustwrapper, no writing or stamps, unmarked pages slightly foxed to the text-block edges. The bright dustwrapper is creased to the edges with small closed tears, a 1/2" lost to the spine head and tiny chips to the spine heel/tips supplied in a new removable archival sleeve. Very Good in Fair dust jacket.

Rotterdam, N.p. n.y. Hardcover. Introduction by A. Machen. 8vo. Burgundy leatherette spine and green marbled paper over boards. 87pp. 3 full-page illustrations. Very good. Some edgewear and minor scuffing to paper-over-boards, though the leatherette spine is quite nice. Tight and attractive copy of this outrageously disingenuous production. History tells us that Reddie was a Scottish author and erotica collector and bibliographer (1807-78) who published this title in 1881. The "A. Machen" who introduces this edition is a cheap ploy to be mistaken for English author Arthur Machen (1863-1947), and the attribution of "Amatory Experiences" to "Memoirs of Fanny Hill" author John Cleland baseless. Even the supposed place of publication, "Rotterdam-London," is certainly a decoy to hide the fact that this is probably an American production of the 1930s. Bibliographically there's not much you can believe about this book -- except that it is indeed a classic of erotica and is indeed rather scarce.
