Hilda Frances Margaret Prescott was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She was most known for her novel, The Man on a Donkey. This was originally published in England by Constable in 1928; the first American edition was also published in 1928 (by this same publisher). The publisher's jacket blurb explains that when this was originally published in America, the author's work had not yet received ''the rightful acclaim now given it''; accordingly this reissue edition after her success with The Man on a Donkey and other works. This novel presents ''the stark realism and veritable details of life as it must have been at the time of the Sixth Crusade. The story centers in one Adam Morteigne who is trusted by his best friend with the guardianship of his wife while he is away at war. Adam is false to his trust and his thereafter hounded by the memory of his betrayal.''
