(hardcover) Very good. xxii, 397pp; 467pp; 407pp; 14pp, cccxcviii. 4 volumes. 4th edition, which includes the study of Garneau and his works by Chauveau, an analytical table by Sulte, and supplementary work by Louis Fréchette. Rebound in dark half-leather over pebbled cloth boards. Spines lightened. Boards with rubbing, most extensive at edges; leather on corners worn. Spine in five compartments, raised bands; bands decorated with simple blind accent; title and volume compartments lettered in gilt. Ex-libris copy with surface leather loss in bottom compartment from call number. All edges marbled. Culled from the Société Historique de St. Boniface, with their rubber stamp at the front and rear of each volume. Set originally from the library of the renowned Red River reverend, L. J. Grandchamp, with his signature at the head of the ffep of vol.III, "Ex Libris" in his hand at the head of the ffep of vol.II, and his notation in pencil to the rear pastedown of vol.III. With occasional marginal mark in pencil. Else internally clean; free of call numbers, discard stamps, underlining, extensive marginalia, or any other such ex-libris blemishes. Occasional leaf with closed tear at margin. An acceptable set of this seminal work of Canadian historiography.
