Bemiss claims in the preface that this is the first book printed in America on the subject. In fact the earliest title is The Country Dyer's Assistant, by Asa Ellis, Jr. published in 1798. Front cover detached. There is offsetting between pages 150 and 151, likely from a laid in leaf or flower. Still an early expansive and useful treatment of the subject. .
