[31.8 x 32.5 cm]. - The book is in worn condition (the spine and edges of the binding are worn; the pages and the record sleeve are partly attached to the binding with white linen tape). - - The loose lithograph with accompanying cover and the vinyl record are in very good condition.Complete set with the 12 inch 33rpm record & the original col. lithograph by Karel Appel [in seperate thick paper portfolio; 37 x 28 cm; signed on the stone]. - - In 1961 Dutch cineaste Jan Vrijman made a documentary about Appel, which featured the artist at work in his studio. For this film, Appel created the soundtrack, Musique Barbare, in studios in Utrecht and Hilversum. Karel Appel's legendary piece of musique was recorded in 1963 at the Insituut voor Sonologie in the Netherlands with the collaboration of music composer Frits Weiland. - - In 1963 the book Musique Barbare was published. This book (32.5 x 32 cm), 26 pages, contains 25 photos (3 in colour) by Ed van der Elsken showing Karel Appel at work in his studio. Two pages with text are printed on brown corrugated paper. The text was written by Jan Vrijman. The book includes the 33 rpm 12-inch vinyl record ‘Musique Barbare’. This LP is included in a 4-page cover in the form of a cardboard sleeve.
