The first edition of the work. Signed and dated to the title page 'April 3 1996 Robertson Davies&apos. Robertson Davies was a Canadian novelist, playwright and journalist. He is considered one of the most popular Canadian authors and a distinguished man of letters. The Cunning Man was the last novel written by Davies and is the memoir of the life of a doctor Dr Jonathan Hullah. The popular character and narrator of Fifth Business 'Dunstan Ramsay' makes a brief appearance in this work. Whilst it was never confirmed by Davies, it was hypothesised that this work was to be the second in a trilogy alongside Murther and Walking Spirits. A excellent signed example of noted Canadian author Robertoson Davies's final work, presented in the original dustwrapper. In a black cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally in excellent condition with minor shelf wear to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine.
