Small leaf extracted from what seems an album amicorum, w. Latin motto 'Ne facias alys, fieri quod tu tibi nolis' [Wat Gij niet wil dat U geschiedt, doe dat ook aan anderen niet..' [= Treat others as you would treat yourself]. To the left place and date, being Franekerae Frisiorum, Pridie Cal. Martij CICICLII [1652]. To the right a 5 line latin autograph inscription, for Arnoldo Craft J.U.D., signed 'Bernardus Fullenius Math. Profess. et Acad. p.t. Rector.'
Franekerae [Franeker], auograaf, 1652. oblong 8vo. 1 leaf meas. appr. 17 x 11 cm. In total 11 lines in latin in Fullenius' hand. Bernard Fullenius III [1602 - 1657], son of the famous Bernard Fullenius II revisor of the 'Statenvertaling in 1637 and preacher in Leeuwarden. Fullenius III was professor of Oriental languages and prof. of Mathematics and Rector of Franeker University. He was one of the men [De Volder was the other] whom Christiaan Huygens in his last will and testament chose to be editor of some of his unpublished work. The motto above may also be found in Johannes Rhala's [1630 - 1686] Album Amicorum, in which Fullenius wrote a contribution. Fullenius was professor of Oriental languages but also appointed prof. of Mathesios in 1636 succeeding the eminent Adriaan Metius. Coccejus then takes over the vacant position of Prof. of Oriental languages. Bernhardus Fullenius teaches Menno van Coehoorn, his nephew, and Abraham de Grau, his successor for maths in Franeker. Fullenius is involved in Metius' 2nd ed. of 'Manuale arithmeticae ..'and edits a reprint of Metius' 'Arithmeticae libri duo...'[Elzevier, Leiden, 1640].
