Profuse color photographic illustrations by Elin Andreassen & the authors. Very good. Two archaeologists and a photographer pursue what they call "archeology of the present", investigating the Soviet mining town of Pyramiden, Svalbard. The town was deserted when the mine was shut down in 1998, "leaving behind a site devoid of humans but still filled with all the paraphernalia constituting a modern city".
