An untrimmed copy, spine and hinges repaired, writing on front board, tear in margin of a few leaves, scattered light foxing, several leaves creased, rear end paper mostly torn away; overall about very good.
¶ Barton (1766-1815) was a noted Philadelphia physician and naturalist. He founded the journal in 1805 and edited it for three years. This part contains a 31 page article by Barton entitled An account of the Native American, Or Indian Dogs, which Barton had published earlier in The Philosophical Magazine, a plate of the the bird, American Certhia, or Creeper, by William Bartram., and other articles on, digitalis, Niagara Falls, the powers of steam, and the wheat moth, among dozens of other topics in medicine and nature. An important early medical and naturalist journal. Sabin 3822.
