- ABAA
The home page of the American Antiquarian Booksellers
Association. Including news, directory of members, websites
and online catalogues of over 150 dealers (but that figure
will grow in time). Many links to other (antiquarian) book resources on the
Internet.
- Guide to the Book Arts and Book History on the
World Wide Web. is an organized list of links
to Web pages that deal with book arts and book history. The
annotated list includes links to over 175 sites, and includes
pointers to: Academic & Special Collections, Book Arts
Courses & Exhibits, Booksellers, Discussion Lists, Electronic
Journals & Publications, Finding Aids & WWW Guides,
Government Organizations, Professional & Scholarly
Organizations, and Special Topics (Bookbinding, Classics,
Copyright, Iconography, Language, Papyrology, Preservation,
and Typography).
-
The Essentials of Books Collecting: A 12 part, popular not scholary, essay on book collecting for beginners (introduction &
linked subject index to parts - at base of page). Very useful for
the novice.
- BookWire. "The BookWire Index is the most
comprehensive, easiest to use guide to the Book resources on
the Internet, containg nearly 3,500 categorized links to book
sites around the world".
- Bulletin Board
for Libraries. The Library and Related Resources Page at the University of
Exeter (UK) provides extensive pointers to library and
information sites in the United Kingdom. An especially
noteworthy site is included with the indexes and
bibliographic information sources: the Bulletin Board for
Libraries (BUBL), listing the extensive BUBL subject tree of
Internet resources. BUBL is arranged both alphabetically and
by UDC (Universal Decimal System--a system similar to the
U.S. Dewey Decimal System). This UDS arrangement is one of
the best and most extensive examples of an online "library
catalog" of Internet resources. Also provided at this site
are library information servers, library catalogs, library
and related organizations, and scholarly societies, among
others.
-
Alexicon.
The Koninklijke Bibliotheek (Royal Library), Den Haag. Many
usefull links. Libraries, Library Sciences, Antique Books. If
you have a graphic browser visit here the 'Hundreds Highlights'
of the Royal Library, a must for booklovers.
-
A fundamental site for research into early printing,
with a comprehensive variety of links to other bibliographic
research tools, is the Oxford Early Printed Books project.
-
The Directory of North
American Research Libraries is a creation of Judith Hopkins
and associated staff at the State University of New York, Buffalo,
and gives management with addresses and phone numbers and email
addresses of a wide range of research libraries. It is startlingly
up to date and appears to be well maintained.
-
Resources for Booksellers and Book Collectors. This site provides general information services to both the book trade and the book collector of second-hand, out-of-print and/or antiquarian books.
It includes information on and/or links to UK booksellers, booksellers' associations, book search databases, book binding, repair and conservation materials, bibliographies, library archives, etc., etc.
- Scientific
and Medical Antique Collecting System. On collecting
antique scientific instruments. Links to collections,
antique instrument dealers, Booksellers, Books, etc.
-
The Scout Report is a weekly publication offering a selection
of new and newly discovered Internet resources of interest to
researchers and educators, the InterNIC's primary audience.
However, everyone is welcome to subscribe to one of the
mailing lists (plain text or HTML) or visit the Web version
of the Scout Report. Subscription instructions are included
at the end of each report.
- Piet
Wesselman's awarded home page. An
excellent guide. A large number of links to the World of Literature and
Books on the Internet. Including the famous 'De Nederlandse Letteren'.
