Very Good/No Jacket.ΒΆ Second issue of the first original Irish Astronomy text. The author, a divine, was professor of Astronomy at the University of Brinkley was awarded the Copley Medal of the Royal Society in 1824 for his scientific achievements. He was one of the first men to encourage the rising genius of Sir William Hamilton, his successor in the Andrews chair of Astronomy. Dublin. He also published astronomical research, and was engaged in a productive scientific argument on the possibility of arriving at parallax in the observation of stars, which aided scientific observation by making it more precise, although he had the wrong of the argument. Only this issue is found on COPAC[ 1 Loc. Edin.], RLIn notes a copy of the 1812 issue but no copies of this one, OCLC find 5 Locs. of this issue and only later issues of his astronomy texts 1836.
