The whole history of dropsy, before this imperfectly known for practical purposes, was classified and arranged in groups, having reference to a remarkable symptom, the presence or absence of albumen in the urine, then shown to be of the most vital significance. It therefore became a standard work as soon as published and was used in the U.S. in the English edition until publication of an American one in 1820. Includes a 16 page general and a 4 page medical catalog of Longman et al. Orig. Bds. Ptd. paper label [small central lacuna] cloth Rpd. G & M 2209, for the 1813 edition. Saying : "Blackall was before Bright in detecting Albuminuria in association with dropsy, his book of which the Second Edition is more important than the first includes cases of Angina Pectoris."
