The whole history of dropsy, before this imperfectly known for practical purposes, was classified and arranged in groups, having reference to a remarkable symptom, the presence or absence of albumen in the urine, then shown to be of the most vital significance. It therefore became a standard work as soon as published and was used in the U.S. in the English edition until publication of an American one in 1820.
