As the publisher Tenison writes: "An account of these remains, and of all his lordship's other works, is given by the publisher, in a discourse by way of introduction." The last posthumous publication of Bacon's writings which exerted much influence on the early members of the Royal Society: Huygens, Robert Boyle and on Locke, Leibniz, Voltaire, and others throughout Europe. Archbishop Tenison inherited the Bacon manuscripts from Rawley, Bacon's chaplain, and here publishes them. It contains an interesting work entitled The Abecedarium which is an alphabet of nature describing the nature of bodies, their properties and interactions. A manuscript version of this work was discovered in 1980 in the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris and was found to be remarkably close to that of Baconiana.
