Description: 1940. Scott 884-888. Uncacheted addressed First day covers. The Artists Group. Hippocrates authored the statement, "Ars longa, vita brevis"-Art is long, life is brief. The American artists, commemorated by the sixth group of the Famous American series, have passed on but their works and their accomplishments are enduring and a constant reminder of the beauty created by them.
