Description: Third Edition; 4to; pp. xxviii, 378; b/w portrait frontispiece of Captain Henry Wilson, fold out chart of the Pelew Islands and adjacent seas by Captain Henry Wilson, 10 fold out b/w illustrations, 4 pages of b/w illustrations, vocabulary of the Pelew language; contemporary full calf, re-backed with title label, some foxing throughout, front and back hinges a little weak, but still a good sound copy. London, Printed For Captain Wilson and Sold by G. Nicol, Bookseller to his Majesty, Pall-Mall, MDCCLXXXIX. (1789) Keate was shipwrecked near Palau Island in 1783, the crew reached shore and lived with the natives. They eventually built a small boat from the wreckage, which they sailed to Macao. The Captain (Henry Wilson) allowed Keate to write this account of events from his Journals.
