In addition to sinking U boats and enemy-controlled ships, the Lockheed Hudson occasionally performed the task of the long-range fighter, as at Dunkirk when protecting allied troops and was no stranger to aerial combat with FW Kondors, Me 109s and other German aircraft. In the Far East and South Pacific it had frequent encounters with Japanese Zero fighters. The Hudson served with Australia's RAAF, America's USN and AAC, the Brazilian Air Force, the RCAF and the RNZAF.
