Description: First Edition; Super Royal 4to; pp. 140 (in total); numerous b/w. illustrations, bound in later maroon cloth, title lettered in gilt on spine, previous owners bookplate on front endpaper, the first issue was printed on very flimsy paper and is a little browned and chipped on edges the following six issue printed on higher grade paper and are in excellent condition, overall very good run of the first seven issues of this important literary magazine. Melbourne; Bread and Cheese Club; 1939. The Bread and Cheese Club was a Melbourne-based (men only) Australian art and literary society. The club was founded in June 1938 and after going into decline for a number of years closed in 1988. Over its time the club published more than 40 books and its magazine 'Bohemia', the magazines stated purpose was to foster "Mateship, Art and Letters" the club and the magazine were initially run by the noted book collector and literary patron John Kinmont Moir.
