Illustrated green stapled wrappers, with embossed gilt lettering to front and blind embossed containers of Ghirardelli Cocoa to rear. 16 unnumbered pages. Textblock protected by printed onion skin guards. Color illustrations of children playing, dancing, cooking, etc. throughout. 5-7/8" x 4-13/16". Light wear to edges; minor soil to rear wrapper; sunning to part of front joint/top edge. Corner crease and minor loss to first onion skin leaf, else internally very crisp and clean. VG overall. Includes over 25 recipes, among them "Nero Cakes," "Chocolate Kisses," and "Jim Crows" -- small cakes made of meringue, chocolate and almonds, all mixed together despite the dessert's racist name. The recipes were prepared by Frank Bock, famous Pastry Chef at the Palace Hotel, in San Francisco. Uncommon in the trade, 6 copies located in OCLC.
