(Title continued) 250 g; not paginated although the section" Hymns Ancient and Modern For Use in the Services of the Church" and the index thereto, and the appendix thereto comprised an additional 112 numerated pages; total thickness of the text block approaches 7/8 inch. All edges of the text block gilt laid over red edging, bound in dark brown leather, with a single brass clasp central to the opening edge. Mounted at each corner of the tooled front cover four enamel Cross pattée's mounted on brass. The spine has four raised bands with "Prayer Hymns" in gilt in the second. The binding demonstrates a pleasant patination, and the inscription dated 1 June 1872 on the free end page adds charm. A digital image can be provided to help assess condition. Initially I thought the decorations on the front board were replicas of the Canterbury Cross which had been "discovered about 10 years before the dating on the end page. However, the crosses bear more resemblance to the traditional Cross pattée. Very Good/No Jacket.
