During the 11 years between The Green Berets, and Apocalypse Now, the Vietnam war was a source of inspiration for many directors whose interpretations differed wildly. This book focuses on nearly 70 feature films that directly or indirectly were motivated by the war. The author has traced the shift in attitude towards the war from the early days of patriotism and bravura to the present day acceptance of the stark reality and horror which surrounds such human conflict. This is not simply a chronology and breakdown of movie; it is set against the background of a groundswell of public opinion and changing events and explains the extent to which those forces were reflected in the movies of the time. -- fold over blurb. Good/Good.
