The cloth appears to have been attacked by insects, but there is no corresponding damage to the wrapper. The dust jacket is rubbed, chipped, and discoloured. The theme of this biography is the life and death of the author's generation; a generation integrated and vitalised by British precedent -- but Australian, not British; a prowled and possess a generation that, like its British counterpart, was decimated and dispossessed by two world wars.
