Numerous full-page illustrations in colour. The book is divided into sections each printed upon a different colour paper. The top edge of the dustwrapper is chipped at the spine crease, and also is torn at the bottom of the front fold over. The bottom edge of the board shows shelf wear. James Beard writes: "this is a highly unusual cookbook for the reason that it reflects 12 years in the history of one of the truly fine restaurants ever to grace the City of New York. -- -- the home book is fortunate to have these specialties brought within reach. like the restaurant's menu, the recipes are based on the changes on the season and on the idea that certain foods are best enjoyed in their own time.".
