Illustrated with full colour reproductions of the paintings and sculptures discussed. Coloured frontispiece. Grey cloth boards with gilt titles on spine. Cloth faded and grubby along all edges of the book. There is also shelf wear evident to bottom edge, and there are some dust marks to top edge of paper. Illustrated dustwrapper, Madonna del Granduca by Raphael, is on the white background with black titles on spine. The dustwrapper is faded and has some grubby marks on it. There is creasing on the bottom corner of the front panel. Minor chipping occurs top and bottom of spine. This book covers the full range of Italian art, from antiquity to the 18th century masters. The author "examines the growth of distinct styles of Italian art and the forms of patronage which supported the artists and lead of entry to the creation of individual collections.".
