(iv), 214, (2) pp. Frontispiece with tissue guard inserted (sepia tone mounted photo by McGlashon & Walker from a sketch by J. Noel Paton of Herwig's Parting), decorated title page in red and black, head and tail pieces, by J.M. Corner. Spine tips chipped to a depth of 1/4 inch; book a bit leaned; prize bookplate to front pastedown; inner hinges cracked; covers have a bit of wear to outer corners; soft corner crease to text throughout; small rubber stamp to verso of front free endpaper; this is otherwise mainly a fine and bright copy. Translated by Emma Letherbrow. A prose translation in 23 chapters of this legend of Friesland.
