Half bound in old sheep and marbled boards. pp (4), 416 + binder's blanks front and rear. Includes the full page illustrated half title at front. Text in triple columns, illustrated with wood engraved illustrations throughout. Spine is worn at tips, rubbed at joints; inner hinges neatly repaired with paper tape; last leaf of text and following blanks are vertically creased, with a three inch tear to lower last text leaf; occasional small foxing or soil spots in text but text is generally clean and unworn. In all, just good externally, internally very good, now sound in the binding. Pictures include Augusta, Maine (5); Brookline Reservoir; Bangor, Maine (4); churches of Boston (22),;the Crystal Palace (dozens); Dartmouth College; loads of Boston and other Massachusetts scences; Philadelphia; Portland, Maine (5); Russian military scences (9); St. Charles Hotel, New Orleans; Havana (5); "Toronto Boat Club coming into the Harbor" (p 240); ladies' fashion, and much more. There is a double page spread of "Grand Panoramic View of Tremont Street, Boston, East and West Sides, from Court Street to the Common". "AMERICA'S FIRST ILLUSTRATED NEWSWEEKLY.
