Toronto: J.S. Robertson, (1885). Hardcover. Octavo. Original brown bevel edge cloth bordered in blind, gilt lettered, red page edges. (3)- (10), 7-148, [2, blank] + maps and colour charts (two folding), Double-page colour railway map of Ontario inserted before title page; 20 leaves of county maps printed in colour on both sides at rear followed by four double page maps of Quebec (railway map, Eastern Townships, Province, Manitoba). Defective - bottom half of pp 9-10 clipped out (climate chart on recto, graph of national origins on verso), otherwise all maps and charts are present. Cloth split to rear joint repaired; spine a bit sunned; cracked inner hinges neatly repaired with paper; thin front free endpaper has browning and short tear at fore edges; leaf following title leaf has chips at margins (no text affected); in all just fair, but text and maps quite clean and unworn. The title page continues: "Containing historical sketches of Ontario and of the Dominion of Canada .. To which is added a compendium of interesting and useful information for the study, the office, the workshop, the farm and the household." .
