"An extract from the Leeds Mercury printed soon after the rising of Dec. 1837, urging the independence of Canada." - TPL. The author urges that Britain learn the lesson of the American revolution and grant independence to Canada and not suppress the insurrection by force. "A formidible insurrection in Lower Can ada presents to this county the afflictive prospect of another war with its Colonies. " - opening sentence.
