Carol Lawson's illustrations feature wide-eyed, cherubic children: Goldilocks, Hansel and Gretel, Snow-white and Rose-red, as well as radiant older heroines such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel. A talented artist, Lawson also provides charming spot art throughout, with generous sprinklings of flowers and mice. The brevity of the tales makes this an excellent bedtime read-aloud--but adults should be prepared to let little eyes linger on the magnificently detailed illustrations. Recommended for ages 3-6.
