Period re-bind, with the distinctive marbled boards and trimmed, simple speckled edges. Leather on spine soiled; rubbed. Corners rubbed. Marbled EPs; the EPs were evidently once slightly stuck-together, with a few small corresponding surface transfers. Previous owner's stamp to title page. Else internally bright and clean. Frontispiece. Text in French. "Nouvelle Édition Complète précédée d'une notice sur le Sage par Sainte-Beuve" -title page (Bookseller's trans: "New Complete Edition preceded by a note on le Sage by Sainte-Beuve).
