Boards notably rubbed, white lettering on spine mostly rubbed off, extremities worn, corners bumped. 2" split in cloth at head of rear hinge. Textblock with only occasional spot in margin, else clean throughout. Textblock shaken, starting at front and rear gutters, starting at p52 / 53. Ffep detached, laid-in. Previous owner's period signature to ffep. Leaf 42 / 43 torn, largely lacking. Some gatherings were uncut and have been rough-opened. Illustrated with plates by Denslow. Although this copy has notable wear, this remains a scarce title of a desirable illustrator's work.
