It will focus on the grandiose period between 1620 and 1642-1643 and present over two hundred works - paintings, sculpture, prints and drawing, architectural plans, maquettes and decorative art objects - by such famous artists as Philippe de Champaigne, Charles Le Brun, Claude Lorrain, Nicolas Poussin and Simon Vouet. Divided into six sections, this presentation will explore public and state commissions, religious commissions, intellectual and scholarly patronage, Richelieu and his circle as private patrons, the life of the people and the subsequent myth of Richelieu.
