This is volume 16 in a series begun in 1916 in Kobe. Eighteen issues were completed before the series ended in 1924. The texts concern mountain climbing in Japan, and was composed and/or submitted by various members of the Alpine Club known locally as the Mountain Goats of Kobe. This particular volume contains 24 chapters on subjects ranging from Japan's Northern Alps and the use of ice- axe and rope, to rhododendrons, love suicides, and an ascent of Fuji.
