First published in 1817, this biography was most likely reprinted in 1824 to create popular support for Jackson's presidential campaign against John Quincy Adams and Henry Clay. Eaton, a senator from Tennessee and a close friend of Jackson, was a political supporter and leader of Jackson's 1824 and 1828 campaigns.
