First edition, 8vo, 316pp., frontis portrait; light scuffing, else near fine in contemporary full red morocco gilt, the name “James Thompson McCleary” in gilt on upper cover. The body of this work is a day to day account of the life of Jones as interpreted in the 850-odd mss. in the LC's collection. McCleary was a Representative from Minnesota in the U.S. Congress (1893-1907).
