William Edmondstoune Aytoun (1813 – 1865) was a Scottish lawyer and poet. His reputation as a poet is based mainly on Lays of the Scottish Cavaliers (1848). Sir Joseph Noel Paton (1821 – 1901) was a Scottish artist, born in Wooer's Alley, Dunfermline, Fife. He painted in the Pre-Raphaelite style and became a painter of historical, fairy, allegorical and religious subjects. Bookplate of 'Callum' to front pastedown. In a red morocco binding.
