Andre Leon Blum (1872 1950) was a French politician, usually identified with the moderate left, and three times Prime Minister of France. Blum attended the Ecole Normale Superieure and The University of Paris and became both a lawyer and literary critic. "Beylisme" was the name Stendhal proffered to himself to describe his personal philosophy, which stressed the importance of the "pursuit of happiness". Re-bound in a quarter-morocco binding with marbled boards and gilt lettering to spine. Externally very smart with some minor shelfwear only. Light mark to spine.
