Hermann Bahr (1863-1934) was an Austrian writer, playwright, director, and critic. Bahr was an active member of the Austrian avant-garde, producing both criticism and Impressionist plays. He was the first critic to use the term 'Modernism' for some literary works, and was an early observer of Expressionism. This is his theoretical work on Expressionism, translated into English by R. T. Gribble with a note on the author. Chapters include subjects such as 'Offence', 'Taste', and 'Consolation in Goethe&apos. In a quarter cloth binding with paper boards. Externally generally smart, with a little damp staining to the lower extremities and a small loss to the upper extremity of the front board. Extremities are somewhat bumped.
