When her husband was appointed Colonial Secretary of Natal in 1875, they travelled to Mauritius, Trinidad, Barbados, and Western Australia. Lady Barker used her experiences during this time to write "A Year"s Housekeeping in South Africa".With a thirty-nine page publisher's catalogue to the rear, dated October 1878.Illustrated with a title page and eight plates. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Boards bright, with a touch of discolouration to back strip. Bumping to spine head and tail. Front hinge strained, but firmly held.
