Prize bookplate of Queen's Head Street School to the front paste down, dated 1934. A delightful school story by May Baldwin (1862-1950), focusing on the adventures of high school girl Dora. Illustrated throughout with plates by the prolific and successful British illustrator Mabel Lucie Atwell (1879-1964), best known for illustrating children's classics and her nostalgic drawings of children. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very bright and smart, with faint marks to the rear board and very light shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot to the first and last few pages, and to the fore edge. Dust wrapper is slightly sunned, with chipping to the head and tail of the spine and to the folds of the flaps. Horizontal tear to the spine of the wrap. Losses to the rear of the wrap. Tear and small losses to the lower extremity of the front of the wrap. Very Good . Ill.: Mabel Lucie Atwell. Very Good/Good.
