A very scarce Italian language translation of the memoirs of Archduke Karl Salvatore of Austria. Karl Salvatore was the son of Leopold II, and second wife Marie Antoinette of Tuscany. He was a Lieutenant-Field Marshal of the Imperial Austro-Hungarian Army.With the binder's label of Graham of Alnwick's to the front pastedown.With the armorial bookplate of Samuel Edward Cook to the front pastedown. Cook was an English writer, who served in the Royal Navy and lived for some years in Spain, writing 'Sketches in Spain' (London, 1834), and 'Spain and the Spaniards' (London, 1844). By royal license, he later assumed the name Widdrington, styling himself as Samuel Edward Widdrington. In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Fading to front joint, with rubbing to perimeters of boards. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Armorial bookplate and binder's label to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound.
