Alongside descriptions of her treacherous voyages in the Caribbean seas, Brown describes the practices of the natives she met in Jamaica. Brown took to exploring in the early 1920s after being told she only had months to live. There is a three-inch closed tear to page 259. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper, reads 'J. S. Shenton. Xmas 1925&apos. In the publisher's original blue cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards and the spine, more so to the joints. A little bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with some light wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
