Title: Dickens Incognito
Description: London, Rupert Hart-Davis, 1959 . First edition. Cloth. The first edition of this biography of Charles Dickens in the original dust wrapper, with a signed corrections letter from the author. First edition of Dickens Incognito by Felix Aylmer in the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Includes a signed letter from the author inserted from 1970, providing warning and corrections to his work and explaining the error and misjudgement. Part of the letter describes the author's predicament: 'The second edition, already in print, has been destroyed, but I was told that it would not be practicable to call in the first, already distributed. I have not yet seen any way to produce a satisfactory revision. The first part of the book, dealing with Elizabeth Cottage, is not, I fancy, likely to be challenged.'An interesting and well researched study into the private life and romances of Charles Dickens. Illustrated with two monochrome plates and a map. Collated, complete.  In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. There is some wear to the extremities of the dust wrapper, this includes a few open tears to the rear and a few small tears to the extremities, and light age toning. To the binding, there is some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good Indeed/Very Good.
