Major John Fairfax-Blakeborough (1883-1976) was a racing judge at Sedgefield, wrote many books on the history of horse racing, and remained a licensed Turf official until shortly before his death. In this volume, he provides about 1,500 brief biographies of breeders, owners, trainers, jockeys, and others concerned in racing matters. This is an excellent resource for anyone interested in the history of horse racing. 20 pages of advertisements to the front of the volume and 4 pages of advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with just a couple of faint marks to the front board and a little bumping to the extremities. Spine is slightly darkened but the boards remain bright. Internally, firmly bound.
