In the publisher's original quarter cloth and pictorial paper boards, with the original glassine wraps. 16 colour plates and further illustrations in the text by the French artist Jacques Marie Gaston Onfroy de Bréville (1858-1931), known by the pen name Job after his initials. A brief history of France by Jacques Pierre Bainville (1879-1936), a French historian and journalist, best known for his prophetic criticisms of the Treaty of Versailles. A geopolitical theorist, concerned by Franco-German relations, he was a leading figure in the monarchist Action Française. In publisher's original quarter cloth and pictorial paper boards, with original glassine wraps. Externally very smart, with just a little bumping to the extremities. Front board is slightly age toned with a scattering of spots, but colour is still bright. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for some spotting to the fore edge and the first and last few pages. Glassine is a little stained and spotted, and also chipped to the extremities, with some losses to the spine and a tear to the front flap. Very Good .
