With sections on the Marylebone Bear Garden, women sword-fighters, London theatre and sporting houses. In the original, full cloth binding. Externally, smart with shelf wear to the extremities. Fading and marks to the boards and spine, heavier on the binding of volume one. Small tears to the hinges of volume one, but still very firm. Light marks to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with some spotting towards the front and some handling marks throughout. Spotting around the plates. Several pages are uncut throughout.
