Both volumes are written by Giacomo C. Bascape with the first volume being published in 1940 and the second in 1959. The second volume includes documents from 1943 to 1959. The first volume has thirteen colour plates and the second has four colour plates. There are further black and white illustrations throughout both volumes. Collated. The Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem, or commonly known at the Order of Malta, are a chivalric religious order born around the second half of the 11th century and are dedicated to St. John the Baptist.  Both volumes are in the original paper wraps. Externally, volume one is much more age toned and worn than the second volume. The spine of volume one is a little faded. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
