He is best known for his fortification designs within Belgium and Romania, some of which played an important role during the German invasions of World War One. Translated into Spanish by Emilio Bonelli Hernando (1854-1926), a Spanish military officer, explorer, and colonial Africanist. Hernando was also a founding member of the Liga Africanista Espanola.With four pages of publisher's adverts loosely inserted into the rear of text.Collated, complete. Bound in a quarter-crushed morocco binding on marbled boards. Externally, generally smart. Wear along the extremities and to the spine, with wear along the bands of joints and to the head and tail of spine. Fading and marks to boards. Some loss to the marbled board to the rear board, with cardboard underneath exposed. Age-toning to the margins of endpapers.Internally, firmly bound.
