Auden, written mostly in 1972 and 1973 before Auden's death in September 1973. Poems include 'Aubade', 'Unpredictable but Providential', 'Address to the Beasts', 'No, Plato, No', and 'Nocturne&apos. This work also includes lyrics that Auden wrote for the musical comedy 'Man of La Mancha', that ended up being rejected for the play. Wystan Hugh Auden (1907-1973) was a British-American poet, whose popular poems include 'Funeral Blues', 'September 1, 1939', and 'Shield of Achilles&apos. Prepared for publication by Edward Mendelson, who was Auden's literary executor. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with just a bit of fading to the margins of board, particularly the top edge. Prior owner's pencil inscription to front endpaper, with bookseller's sticker to front pastedown. Dust wrapper is excellent with minimal edge wear and light age-toning to the top edge of fly leaves and reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Near Fine .
