First published in 1853, this novel follows protagonist Lucy Snow as she travels from England to the French city of Villette to teach at a girl's school. This was Bronte's third and last novel published during her life.Vol I and Vol II both have two illustrated plates throughout both volumes406ppCharlotte Bronte (1816-1855) was an English novelist and poet who was the eldest of the Bronte sisters. She was the last to die of all of her citizens, and helped to create multiple classics of English literature. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Minimal wear to the extremities and to the spine, with a few marks to the front board of Vol II. Spines are faded with minimal bumping to head and tail of spine. Age toning with light spots to paste downs and endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, with light age-toning to the margins and the odd spot particularly to the first and last few pages of text. Very Good . Ill.: Pellisier & Allen. Very Good .
