He became the 7th Regius Keeper of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, as well as Her Majesty's Botanist, in 1845.With an illustrated bookplate belonging to H. Armytage Moore, Rowallane. He was the brother of Charles Armytage-Moore, the founding partner of London stockbrokers Buckmaster & Moore. He also inherited the garden at Rowallane, in the County Down within Northern Ireland, and helped to develop them into the famous Rowallane Gardens. Bound in half-calf on marbled boards. Externally, smart. A few marks to boards, with light rubbing to extremities, head and tail of spine, and along the raised bands of joints. Prior owner's illustrated bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout, with light age-toning to margins and the odd spot particularly to the first and last few pages.
